The northern side of the Helford River features the Helford Passage, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Popular places to visit are the exotic sub-tropical gardens at Trebah and Glendurgan, which offer wonderful walks through the gardens to the Helford River.
Heading towards Falmouth takes in the pretty village of Mawnan Smith and further along brings you to the beaches at Maenporth and Swanpool.
Activities such as watersports, rockpooling and scenic walks are all available here, as well as beach cafes, and even a nature reserve at Swanpool.
Walking along the coastal path brings you to Falmouth, a vibrant town which has a great deal to offer. Gyllyngvase and Castle Beaches are ideal for sunbathing and also offer opportunities for places to eat.
Entertainment is well catered for in Falmouth. You could visit the Maritime Museum, the Princess Pavillion Theatre, the Ships and Castle leisure centre or enjoy the spectacular Pendennis Castle. You will be spoilt for places to dine in Falmouth town, and even on a rainy day, there is plenty to do to occupy the whole family.
