The Old School House is situated in a quiet, leafy lane, adjacent to the beautiful 1,000 acre Trelowarren country estate and close to the Helford River. Built in the 1870's as a school for boys, the house has been tastefully renovated to provide interesting and spacious accommodation. All the ground floor rooms have doors onto the garden, which is bounded by a stream and leads into its own private woodland.

The accommodation is as follows: A fully equipped kitchen with electric cooker, fridge, separate freezer, microwave, automatic washing machine, toaster, coffee percolator, cafettiere, blender etc plus a pine table and chairs. Outside door with steps down to the garden. There is an extra fridge in the hallway. The downstairs cloakroom has hanging space for coats, a large cupboard housing the iron/ironing board etc and a W.C. and hand basin. The large sitting/dining room has comfortable furniture, an open fire, which takes logs or coal, a piano, dining table and chairs and French doors onto stone steps which lead down into the garden. There is a TV with Freeview, a DVD and video player plus a music centre. There is also a large front door, which leads onto the lane. The second sitting room is attractively furnished with comfy sofas, another open fire and French doors onto stone steps leading down to the garden. This room has a portable TV and a music centre. All the ground floor rooms have beamed ceilings.

Steep stairs from the hallway lead up to a galleried landing. Bedroom 1 has a 2ft 6in single bed, plus a large airing cupboard. Bedroom 2 has two 3ft single beds, Bedroom 3 has a 4ft 6in double bed and Bedroom 4 has a 5ft King size bed and fitted wardrobes. There is a bathroom with bath and shower over and a hand basin in a vanity unit, plus a separate W.C. and hand basin close to bedrooms 1 and 2 and a Shower room with extra large shower cubicle, bidet, hand basin and W.C. next to Bedroom 4. Both bathrooms and the ground floor cloakroom, have heated towel rails.

Outside, the very sheltered, South facing garden, is laid to lawn with mature shrubs and trees and is bounded by a stream. The stream is behind a stone wall where it runs close to the house, but is accessible further down the garden, where it leads into private woodland. There is a shed with garden furniture and a BBQ, plus a rotary clothes line.

The ground floor and the landing is heated by night storage heaters and the bedrooms by programmable electric heaters. Heating and electricity is included in the cost. Bed linen and tea towels are supplied but guests should bring towels for personal use. A travel cot is available. Logs and coal for the open fires can be purchased locally.

The Old School House is a ten minute walk from Mawgan village (one third of a mile), where there is an excellent Spar shop and Post Office, which sells freshly baked bread and pastries, a wide range of local and organic meats, fruit and veg, plus wines and spirits. Newspapers and magazines, plus logs, coal, and charcoal for the BBQ can also be purchased here and deliveries can be arranged. The Ship Inn with the Old Court House Restaurant is a few minutes drive away and Mawgan creek is close by.

Two dogs are allowed in the property but guests are asked not to smoke in the house. There is parking for four cars.
