The softer, greener landscape of the Helford River with its creeks and inlets, provides another face of this beautiful region. The charming coves of Gillan and Flushing offer safe bathing and sailing tuition and boat hire is available at nearby St Anthony. There are superb cliff walks over National Trust land to the tiny fishing village of Porthallow with its shingle beach and Five Pilchards Pub.
There are walks to the Helford River and Frenchman’s Creek from the pretty village of Manaccan, with its old thatched Inn, bistro and Post Office/store. The picturesque Helford village is nearby, with its thatched cottages, pub and views across the river.
